Good Country Hemp was founded by husband and wife team Mick and Linda Andersen who both have a long farming heritage. When they decided to grow hemp on their farm near Mundulla, they soon discovered there was no one in South Australia to buy and process their harvested crop. So, they decided to build their own hemp seed processing facility and Good Country Hemp was born.
The main passion driving early growth was to harness and develop the many benefits of hemp. Firstly, to take an ancient crop with remarkable advantages to farming such as soil improvement and carbon sequestration and secondly, to bring the amazing health benefits of hemp foods for everyone to enjoy.
It turned out that the local Tatiara district of South Australia has superior conditions for growing hemp – a warm Mediterranean climate, good fertile soils and excellent quality underground water for irrigating broad-acre hemp crops.
Today, Good Country Hemp partner with multiple local farmers contracted to grow specific hemp seed varieties for high quality food products. After harvesting the seed it’s carefully dried, cleaned and processed at Bordertown into the premium quality hemp foods we have become known for – cold pressed hemp seed oil, hulled hemp seed, protein powder and hemp flour.
We currently have the largest hemp seed processing capability in South Australia and have complete traceability from the paddock to plate.
